    What this test measures

The GAD-7 is the most widely used screening tool for generalised anxiety. It asks how often you have felt nervous, worried, restless, or on edge over the last two weeks. A higher score means more frequent symptoms — it does not mean you “have” an anxiety disorder.

Worry that is hard to control, restlessness, trouble relaxing, irritability, and a sense that something awful might happen. Clinicians use it in primary care and therapy to decide whether a fuller assessment is useful.

    How scoring works

Each of the 7 items is scored 0 (not at all) to 3 (nearly every day). Totals range from 0 to 21. A score of 10 or higher is often used as a threshold for further evaluation. You can take this test without signing in; sign in afterwards if you want to save your result and get personalised next steps.

    0–4 · Minimal

Symptoms in this range are common and often manageable with everyday coping.

    5–9 · Mild

Some anxiety is showing up. Tracking it and using calming skills can help.

    10–14 · Moderate

Symptoms are frequent enough that talking with a counsellor is often useful.

    15–21 · Severe

Anxiety is likely interfering with daily life. Professional support is recommended.

This is a screening questionnaire, not a medical diagnosis. Results are for self-awareness only. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency services or a helpline immediately.

The purpose of this questionnaire is to assist you in determining whether any sensations, ideas, or behaviors you may be having are indicative of an anxiety disorder or anxiety syndrome. It can offer preliminary understanding, but it is not meant to take the place of a professional assessment or act as a diagnosis for anxiety disorders, panic attacks, or any other mental health issues.

How often have any of the following issues disturbed you in the last two weeks?

When it comes to evaluating your mental health and exploring depression and anxiety treatment, this self-evaluation might be a helpful starting point.
